Thoughtful Thursday: A World Without Alzheimer's

Every 70 seconds, someone will develop Alzheimer's.

I am determined to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's, and 78 million baby boomers are at risk – unless we find a way to change the course of the disease.

I want to do my part to fight this disease, but I need to ask for your support! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.

On behalf of the millions of Americans who are living with this disease, thank you for supporting my efforts.

This fall, a nation is walking together to move us closer to a cure. Please help raise awareness and donate if you can.

In March of 2002, my friend's grandmother Jean died of complications due to Alzheimer's. I've seen first hand the devastating effects this disease has on a family. I walk in her memory.

Every little bit helps!

Thank you.

*More Information:

What is Alzheimer's Disease?

A progressive and fatal brain disease. As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing memory loss and problems with thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.

I'm Baaaack!

Do you remember me?! haha. I know, I know...if you didn't know any better you'd probably think I was abducted by aliens =) It's been *THAT* long. I'll admit it, I'm a terrible blogger (lately)!

I've been back since Tuesday and have been playing catch up ever since! Our trip was fabulous! BF and I had such a wonderful time! Relaxing, eating great food (I love trying out new restaurants), shopping, and playing at the beach!! Did I mention I'm having with drawls? So much so, that when we came home--I booked a flight out to LA! Yup, Bf and I are headed to Laguna Beach in 2 weeks! I can't wait! It's always nice to have something fun to look forward to =) We love staying in Laguna--its pretty close to being halfway between LA and San Diego, so we'll get to spend time in both cities! I've been frequenting weather.com and the weather has been perfect down there!! I hope it stays that way!

In other news....

One of my friends from college "E" is getting married this summer!! July 11th is the date she has picked for her special day!! (this seems to be such a popular date--2 other not.so.close friends' weddings are on this very same day). So Anyways..."E" has asked me to be one of her bridesmaids!! How exciting is that?! I'm so honored and it will be so much fun! Summer is the best time of year!

My dearest bloggers... I do have one request regarding this whole bridesmaid thing...I'd love to seek the opionion of your inner fashionista! Below is a picture of the dress "E" has chosen for her bridesmaids.

This is the exact dress--but the color will be watermelon.
Its hard to see in the picture but there is a slight metalic beading detail across the chest.

Here is a good example of the color.

Though we will all be wearing the same dress, we have our own choice on shoes. The wedding will be outdoors so I'm really looking to go with flat. I'd consider a wedge but I'm on the tall side compared to the rest of the bridesmaids--I'd prefer to not stand out as the eight foot giant =) So if you have ANY suggestions on a flat shoe/sandal that you think would look great with this dress throw it my way! I'd appreciate it tons!! I'm thinking something silver? Maybe you have a better idea? Anything helps! And moderately priced as well. Can't wait to see your ideas!

Also, don't forget to check out my sidebar! There are some fabulous giveaways going on!

Oh. And if you have any favorite spots to go to in LA-Laguna-San Diego or anywhere in between, I'd be interested in that too =) We've been there once a year for the past 3 years so we have our own favorites--but would definitely welcome any suggestions! As far as tasty treats go, I can't wait to hit up Pinkberry, Sprinkles, and In and Out (not the classiest joint...but so good). Mmmm I can taste it already =)

'Cause I'm Leavin on a Jet Plane...Don't Know When I'll Be Back Again...

Tomorrow bf and I are headed out of town to the BEACH!! We will be gone for 6 days! I just hope the weather holds up =) The weather this time of the year is always so iffy, I never know what to pack! I'm trying to keep it all in one suitcase--but it's looking like its turning into 2! Yup 2 for 6 days...I'm hopeless =)

Here is where we are going to stay:

And here is the beach:

A few other things we have planned are:

a.) A Lakers Game
b.) A concert
c.) Gooooood food!
(ha. Is it weird that this is what I'm most excited about? Don't worry, the hotel provides a complimentary pass to the Country Club---we'll see if I can get motivated enough to go late night or early in the morning)
d.) Last but not least...........Shopping!

So excited!

Heels

I'm a Tar Heel born
I'm a Tar Heel bred
And when I die
I'm a Tar Heel dead.
So it's Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah! Rah! Rah!

Sorry Ladies but I needed to throw in some White and Blue amongst the White and Green posts I've seen today! People seem to either really love the tar heels or really hate them! I happen to love them and its for a reason more than just hopping on a bandwagon-- family ties.

Sorry Mich. St. there is just no way you can stop #5 or #50!
The only thing you can do is hope it's not a blow out.
Love my heels =)

Weekend Wrap Up + 30 Day Shred

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!! The weather here was finally sunny + warm= one happy girl! =)

On another happy note...I got a surprise in the mail!! A little "I love you" reminder from my perfect and handsome bf!

You can see the surprise HERE ( I checked polyvore for a picture without any luck). It looks so much better in real life! I love it, along with pretty much anything made with pearls!!

In other news:

I, along with some of you, have been doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred (while still continuing my regular gym routine of course). I'm on my 4th consecutive day! There is just something about Jillian that is so motivating! She makes me feel like if I get lazy she'll pop out of the tv and put me in a headlock haha

The first day, oh.my.goodness! Hard. But I DID IT! Keep in mind I just recently started getting back into the gym etc. So far though, its been going pretty well and each time it gets easier. I can definitely feel the results!

If you're interested in any type of home workout--pick up the 30 Day Shred dvd and see for yourself what all the hype is about! =)

For those of you that are trying it or have tried it--What did/do you think about your results?

UPDATE:

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and wishes yesterday, you all are so very kind. We have such a great little bloggie community and I'm so happy to be a part of it! Baby Zoe had all sorts of work done yesterday--blood/stool samples, x-rays, shots, the.whole.9.yards. Poor girl. But the good news is: most all her results came back negative! We are just waiting to hear back from the hospital on her blood sample. I am very optomistic though, as baby Zoe is doing much better today! YAY. =)

Under the Weather

Sorry for such a boring post....

My sweet (fur)baby Zoe is one sick puppy today.

Zoe has been teething these past couple of weeks which hasn't been very fun for her. She hasn't been sleeping very well and today she seems to have the tummy flu. She's thrown up 3x already! Poor Zoe just can't keep anything down. We are headed to the vet later this afternoon--wish us luck =)

I've been on my best behavior and haven't partaken in any scheming today.
I'll dedicate my post to others who didn't hold back and kept today's theme alive.

Advice Needed

Ok ladies, I'm in the need for some advice....

My tanning package at the salon ran out a week ago, and I'm already starting to feel a little like this:

But I'm completely terrified of the C word
(c.a.n.c.e.r)

So I've decided to turn over a new leaf and quit the bed tanning!

I'd like to explore my other options.

A. Invest in some in home self tanner (freaks me out a bit)

OR

B. Go to the salon and step into one of those spray tanning machines (ms. salon lady set it at a shade too dark the ONE time I tried it. It just so happened to be right before *aka the day before* I left on spring break. D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. I was the only person on the beach wearing a turtleneck...ha. Not quite but I should have been =) Needless to say I haven't revisited the machine spray since).

and lastly

C. Keep my fingers crossed I don't end up looking like this:

Lotion Tan?
Spray Tan?
Salon Spray Tan?

Any advice/tips from my fellow tanners out there for getting the most natural and streak free results? Or any mishaps you learned from...

Slap-Chopped!!

Vince Shlomi(44), better known as the pitch man for a super this absorbent towel and this food chopper was arrested at a hotel in Miami for a violent altercation with a prostitute(26).

According police reports(you can view them here), Shlomi told police he met Harris at a Miami Beach nightclub and took her to his $750-a-night room. Shlomi then paid Harris about $1,000 and when he kissed her, she "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched her several times until she released his tongue.

The affidavit says a bleeding Shlomi ran to the hotel lobby, where security summoned police.

Both were slap-chopped with the silver bracelets for felony aggravated battery.

All I can say is sham-Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww!
