Advice Needed

Ok ladies, I'm in the need for some advice....

My tanning package at the salon ran out a week ago, and I'm already starting to feel a little like this:

But I'm completely terrified of the C word
(c.a.n.c.e.r)

So I've decided to turn over a new leaf and quit the bed tanning!

I'd like to explore my other options.

A. Invest in some in home self tanner (freaks me out a bit)

OR

B. Go to the salon and step into one of those spray tanning machines (ms. salon lady set it at a shade too dark the ONE time I tried it. It just so happened to be right before *aka the day before* I left on spring break. D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. I was the only person on the beach wearing a turtleneck...ha. Not quite but I should have been =) Needless to say I haven't revisited the machine spray since).

and lastly

C. Keep my fingers crossed I don't end up looking like this:

Lotion Tan?
Spray Tan?
Salon Spray Tan?

Any advice/tips from my fellow tanners out there for getting the most natural and streak free results? Or any mishaps you learned from...

  1. i quit tanning after we got married a year ago...and oh, i miss it so! i literally look albino. i actually glow in pictures. but, i'm with you on the c-word. not wanting to partake in that.

i find that salon spray tan makes me streaky and orange, and the tan lotion smells awful! so i'm not much help :) but i'm being supportive!

  2. Oh goodness, I with you on this sensitive subject! LOL!

I've had pretty good luck with the Versaspa Spray Tan at a Planet Tan. I haven't tried anything else, but thank goodness warmer weather is here so now I'm just spending as much time outdoors as possible!!

  3. I have had both a spray tan from a booth and a salon spray tan. I had a great experience with both. I was really nervous about coming out orange when I was in the booth, but I followed the directions then I watched my skin the rest of the day. I waited until I was as dark as I wanted, then showered right away. I would wait until you have a weekend where you're not too busy and then try it. If you don't like it then just shower a lot and it will slowly fade. Best of luck!!

  4. Spray tanning is the way to go here. I think that you should have a test day when you think you wont have anywhere to go so it doesnt matter if you look like Bride Wars. And trust me, I am feeling the whiteness as well, xoox

  6. This is actually something I DO know something about.Ha Ha!!! The Best Self Tanners known to MAN are Clarins, and (really even better) Loreal Sublime (the one in the brown tube, it has shimmer and color, so you cant streak!)
The trick is this (with spray or self tanning) EXFOLIATE,EXFOLIATE,EXFOLIATE!!!! Not just with a loofah, but with a scrub too! Then rub baby oil on elbows, ankles and knee's. Rub lotion in "up and down streaks" then you can go "wax on, wax off" if you need a lil extra assurance! Wash hands thouroughly, rub a little lotion into well EXFOLIATED hands and feet, and lightly rub on tops with a cotton ball that has the self-tanning lotion in it! Cant go wrong!
Dont forget neck and face too (they make products for that)
Get in bed, and go to sleep, wake up like you fell asleep in Maui!
    I'll shut up now!
